Town Budget Workshop for the proposed 2014-15 Budget

The Board of Selectmen hold special public meetings to prepare next year’s Town budgets that will be presented to voters for approval on May 12th.  The Board holds workshops with Town department heads, to discuss their proposed budgets with the Selectmen. Discussions of the budgets for the Board of Education, Public Library and Public Works Departments and the Capital Budget, proposed for 2014-2015, take place on Wednesday March 26th. Other budgets were discussed on March 19th. The workshop begins at 7:00 pm in the Mary Flood Room of the Portland Library.

Budget deliberations are currently scheduled to take place on April 1st and 2nd. At these public meetings changes may be made to the First Selectwoman’s proposed budget.

On Monday, May 5th, a public hearing of the budget proposal takes place at Portland High School, one week prior to the budget referendum at which the voters may approve the proposed budget.

The Budget Referendum takes place at the Portland Senior Center from 6 am to 8 pm on MONDAY, May 12th.
